To my dearest Washington Heights friends!!
Just a note to everyone to say hello.
I have surprisingly decided (a big surprise to myself!) to stay in Israel and try start my life here. I did not plan on staying AT ALL when I came in for my brother's wedding, but I had my bags packed, and was all ready to go the airport and just could not leave. This place is addictive.
It's a scary time here. I was very close to the Haneviim bomb this week, and was shaken up for the whole day. I am constantly questioning my decision to stay here, as it is clear there is no end in sight to the violence. But the strange thing is, I see Israelis get right back into their routines, back to the cafes, back on the busses, and am awed and baffled by their strength to go on. For some reason, when something happens, I don't want to be anywhere else.
I found a temporary job (not is social work, but hey it's a start) and live in Jerusalem. I am coming back to get my stuff in Sept so I hope to everyone then!! Please please come and visit and STAY IN TOUCH!!!
My number here is 053-277-299, email: BGelvin @ aol.com
Miss you all!
